Tony Embrey is a full-time student at Haywood Community College, located in Clyde, NC. He is excited to be pursuing a degree in Professional crafts, with focus on fiber. As an avid arts and crafts enthusiast, Tony caught the fiber bug a few years ago when he learned to knit while visiting family in his hometown of Fredericksburg, VA.
Tony retired in 2013, after completing a 37 year career in financial management as a civilian with the U.S. Navy. He relocated from sunny San Diego, CA to the Blue Ridge mountains in Fairview, NC. Since he was a young boy, Tony has pursued his interests in arts and crafts, including ceramics, stained glass and painting.
One of Tony’s lifelong dreams is to be a studio artist and he feels very fortunate to be exploring his passion. He enjoys the daily challenges of learning the ins and outs of weaving, and developing the skills to explore his ‘warped’ ideas.
In his free time, Tony enjoys cooking, baking, perusing for treasure in local antique and thrift stores, and spending time with his husband, Darrin and their four pups.
